W. George Williams

Born 1870 known as “Dad Cwm” worked in the copper industry until 1912, then moved to the Amman Valley Tin works in 1922 and bought his first commercial vehicle in 1924 - a Chevrolet Bus.

Selwyn Williams

Born 1898, first worked as an underground horse drawn haulier pulling coal drams from the coal face. Started W.G.Williams with his father in 1924, running a daily bus service to local market towns. He then gained a licence to pick and sell coal from coal tips which was the beginning of the coal business, before gaining a coal allocation of anthracite for domestic use, also hauling cattle trucks and quarry aggregates. In 1949 Selwyn took over the business which was then running two vehicles.

Tommy Williams

started T.D.Williams (Brynamman) in 1963. The business continued as a coal merchant until the miner’s strike of 1972 when he switched to general haulage.

John, Robert, Andrew & Tommy

Andrew joined the business in 1982 and Robert in 1991. John worked for the business for a short time until he left home when he was 18 years of age to work in haulage in East Anglia. John now owns Maritime www.maritimetransport.com one of the UK's largest hauliers.

We are one of the largest carriers of palletised freight, distributing throughout the UK. In addition we offer comprehensive warehouse and logistic facilities. We also have the ability to handle loads from one pallet up to regular bulk deliveries including food and beverages, manufacturing supplies and building products.

Our head office is based in Bridgend, South Wales, less than five minutes from the M4 and we have depots, warehousing facilities, and additional bases along the M4 corridor.
